Ringgold, Faith
(n. 8 oct. 1930, Nueva York, N.Y., EE.UU.).

Artista, escritora y activista política estadounidense. Comenzó enseñando arte en escuelas públicas de Nueva York en la década de 1950. En 1963 inició su serie de pinturas sobre "el pueblo norteamericano, relacionadas con el movimiento de los derechos civiles desde la perspectiva femenina. En la década de 1970 se dedicó a promocionar el arte feminista y la integración racial en el mundo del arte en Nueva York. Sus famosos "story quilts (tapices hechos con trozos de tela acolchada) inspirados en los tankas tibetanos, narran relatos insertos en el contexto de la historia afroamericana. Dio forma de libro infantil a uno de sus tapices acolchados, Tar Beach, y siguió publicando otros libros para niños.
